June 27th - D-Stroy was born David Melendez in Brooklyn, New York, on this day in 1975.
In the early 1990’s, D-Stroy hooked up with the future legendary DJ Tony Touch and formed the group Touch And D-Story. They would go on to tour the U.S. including Puerto Rico for the next few years.
D-Story, during this time, also recorded the title track for the Young Lords documentary “Palante Siempre”, which was praised by many including legendary musician Tito Puente.
D-Stroy later formed legendary cult favorites The Arsonists along with Q-Unique and Freestyle. The Arsonists would release classic underground singles on Matador Records like 1996’s “The Session” and 1998’s “Blaze” before releasing their 1999 debut album “As The World Burns.”
In 2001, D-Stroy released his debut solo single, “Roll Out”, also on Matador.
D-Stroy would then later go on to tour with The X-ecutioners and a revived Arsonists.
D-Stroy over the years has also worked with a diverse group of artists like Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Run-DMC, D’Angelo, Atari Teenage Riot, Massive Tone , I Am and The Beatnuts.
D-Stroy has also worked as a model for various companies including G-Shock and Triple 5 Soul.
