June 5th – Reverend Calvin Butts, of the historical Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, rented a small steamroller for a demonstration to destroy rap CD’s and cassettes he found offensive and lewd.
However, his demolition protest of intellectual property came to an abrupt end when after only crushing a few cassettes, protesters stood in front of the rest of the recorded hip-hop material in a counter protest.
