July 15th – Jim Jones was born Joseph Gillermo Jones II in The Bronx, New York, on this day in 1976.

Jones began his career as a member of The Diplomats a.k.a. Dipset, a Harlem based crew founded by Jones and Cam’Ron as well as childhood friend Freekey Zekey and then later Juelz Santana.

The Diplomats released their debut album “Diplomatic Immunity” on Roc-A-Fella Records in 2003, spawning the smash hit “Dipset Anthem.”

In 2004, Jones released his debut solo album “On My Way To Church” on Diplomat Records. Jones has released four more albums since with 2011’s “Capo” being the most recent.

Jones has also appeared in the films “Red Apples Falling”, “Righteous Kill” and “State Property 2”, as well as a cameo role on the HBO series “The Wire.”
