“The Ecstatic” would be Mos Def’s highest charting album to date and earn him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album Of The Year.

The album cover for “The Ecstatic” would be based on Charles Burnett’s 1977 film “Killer Of Sheep” and take its title from Victor LaValle’s 2002 book of the same name.

“The Ecstatic” would spawn the hit single “Casa Bey.”
