This Day In Hip Hop and Rap History

Dec.1st – Jurassic 5 release their Self-Entitled debut album on Pan Records , on this day in 1998.

The album featured cuts from their 1997 e.p. called “The Jurassic 5 E.P.” , released the previous year on Rumble Records. The album would feature an array of eclectic samples from a wide-ranging group of artist like Henry Mancini , Led Zeppelin , Mahavishnu Orchestra , John Williams , Ike Turner And The Kings Of Rhythms , Quincy Jones , Michael White’s Magic Music , Ramsey Lewis and LL Cool J.

The cut “Improvise” from the album appeared in the video game “Jet Grind Radio” and the track “Jayou” was featured in the PlayStation game ‘Grind Session” and “DJ Hero”.
