April 27th – Doug E Fresh releases his third album “Doin’ What I Gotta Do” on Bust It Records, on this day in 1992.

The Bust It label was a subsidiary imprint set up by MC Hammer through his label Capitol Records.

The album featured the hit single “Bustin Out”, which samples the 1979 Rick James hit of the same name.

Doug E Fresh’s Get Fresh Crew are now credited on the album as “The New Get Fresh Crew.”
