iMiXWHATiLiKE!

In this hour we aired the latest commentary from Mumia Abu-Jamal about the beating of Dhoruba bin-Wahad, spoke with Danny Haiphong about his latest article, a critique of Stanley Nelson‘s latest film on the Black Panther Party, and critiqued my last week’s interview with him. We then spent the rest of the hour discussing the new album from The Cornel West Theory – Coming from the Bottom – with two of the band’s members, Tim Hicks and Rashad Dobbins.

“i MiX WHAT i LiKE” is borrowed – in phrase and philosophy – from the work of Steve Biko. The collection of Biko’s “Frank Talk” columns titled I Write What I Like is much of the inspiration for the attempt here to blend the traditions of radical broadcasting, the mixtape and Black Consciousness with what Dr. Hemant Shah has called “Emancipatory Journalism.” More at imixwhatilike.org.
