It is with great sadness that we deliver the news that Adam Yauch, aka: MCA, of the Beastie Boys has died at the age of 47.

After a long battle with cancer, the pioneering rapper who is survived by his wife and daughter, passed away this morning.

MCA was unable to make it to the recent induction ceremony for the Beastie Boys into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last month.

Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz in 1979. The band started off as a hardcore punk group, but soon began experimenting with hip-hop.

"Licensed to Ill," in 1986 put them on the map, with "Paul's Boutique," "Check Your Head" and "Ill Communication" further adding to their long list of successful albums.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of MCA and the Beastie Boys during this difficult time.
