More
artists support comes around to Napster, not unpredictably, from
rapper Chuck D. Chuck D, using his Rapstation.com
site, is hosting a songwriting contest for a track supporting use of
the controversial MP3 file-sharing software. Contestants will
download a music file created by Chuck D called "Power to the People
and the Beats," then rap over the track and submit it to the site.
"We want to draw attention to the positive aspects that Napster has
to offer artists," says Chuck D, "They need to realize that they can
benefit infinitely from what it has to offer. The contest is an
example of how an independent artist can be heard and can develop
their career all on their own, all through the power of the
Internet. A musical career can now belong to everyone, not just the
small handful of acts that a major label decides to promote."
