CHUCK D HOSTS SPECIAL PROGRAM FEATURING ICE CUBE, ICE T and
KRS- ONE TO COMMEMORATE THE ANNIVERSARY OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR's
ASSASSINATION;
Legendary rapper, political analyst and Internet visionary Chuck D announces
plans to commemorate the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr's
assassination. He will produce a special program featuring Ice Cube, Ice T
and KRS-One in conjunction with a Real Slide show, which can be seen
exclusively beginning April 4 at Rapstation.com (www.rapstation.com) and
Rioport.com's (http://rioport.com) member network sites including VH1.com and
Sonicnet.com.
The hour-long program, dubbed "Hip Hop Meets Martin Luther King, Jr's Fight
For Civil Rights," features views and opinions from some of the most
articulate and intelligent rap artists of our generation. Using a technique
made popular by documentarian Ken Burns, Chuck D sets their voices to photos
in a Real Slide show, which includes stunning archival images from various
civil rights and non-violent demonstrations from the 50s and 60s.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. page of Rapstation.com will also post a recent
interview between Chuck D and Martin Luther King III, available in On The Real
format, as well as links to other MLK websites that Chuck personally

Not only a critically and commercially successful rap artist for over a
decade, Ice Cube has developed into a formidable film mogul, not only starring
in films such as "Three Kings with George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg and
"Anaconda" with Jennifer Lopez, but writing and starring in the sleeper hits
"Friday" and "Next Friday." He also wrote and directed 1998's "The Players
Club."
Beginning with his 1987 debut album, Ice T has gone on to write a book, 1989's
The Iceberg / Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say, act in the hit film
"New Jack City," and star in the syndicated television shows "Players" and
"New York Undercover."
KRS-One (an acronym for Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Every One) has been
making socially-conscious Hip Hop records for over 15 years. Acutely aware of
issues such as the plight of the homeless after a period of living on the
streets, he founded the Stop the Violence movement and is an outspoken
advocate of self- education among black youth. He has also written a New York
Times editorial in 1989, and lectures at numerous elementary schools, high
schools, and colleges, and most recently formed the Temple of Hip-Hop, a
school for urban culture.
