Rico Wade's Sudden Death Rocks Hip-Hop Community

Rico Wade, one-third of the legendary production team Organized Noize and founding member of the Dungeon Family, has died. AllHipHop confirmed the tragic news with his representative. He was 52 years old. Condolences from the Hip-Hop community started flying in on Saturday morning (April 13), with Little Brother MC Phonte among them. He wrote simply, “Rest in Peace Rico Wade.” Juicy J, Speech of Arrested Development (another Atlanta Hip-Hop trailblazer), Alchemist and many more shared similar sentiments.

Jam Master Jay's Killers Found Guilty For 2002 Murder Of The Run-DMC Legend

The two men accused of killing Jam Master Jay—Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington—were reportedly found guilty on all counts for the 2002 murder of the Run-DMC legend. According to ABC News, both defendants are facing a minimum of 20 years to life in prison. The death penalty is also on the table per the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Pioneering Hip-Hop DJ Eddie Cheba Has Died

Hip-Hop pioneer Eddie Cheba has diedAccording to close friend Van Silk, he passed away from a cardiac arrest at 7:16 a.m. ET on Tuesday (February 13). Cheba's sister, Sarah Shawn, confirmed the news on social media. Cheba had been sick for at least six months and suffered not one but three strokes. The trailblazing DJ was considered one of the biggest club DJs in New York City throughout the 1970s and could easily pack the house on any given night.

André 3000 Is Taking "New Blue Sun" On Tour

André 3000 is taking his jazz instrumental album, New Blue Sun, on tour. The intimate live shows will include multi-instrumentalist Carlos Niño, Nate Mercereau, Surya Botofasina, Deantoni Parks, Diego Gaeta, Matthewdavid, V.C.R, Diego Gaeta, Jesse Peterson and Mia Doi Todd. The tour kicks off on January 29 in Brooklyn and is followed by a three-night residency at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in Manhattan, where André and his collaborators will play two shows per night. They’ll make stops in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta and San Francisco before finishing with a five-night stint at The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever, a cemetery in Los Angeles.
